Bristol Fourth of July Celebration

We hope you will find everything you need to stay informed about our events and the celebration. The Bristol Fourth of July Committee is a volunteer organization of approximately 120 people, dedicated to continuing the celebration that honors our community's many civil servants, military, and fire personnel. We sponsor many community and fundraising events throughout the year to support the celebration, culminating with the Parade.

The official and historic Celebration, Patriotic Exercises, was established in 1785 by Rev. Henry Wight of the First Congregational Church and Veteran of the Revolutionary War. The Celebration officially starts with Flag Day on June 14. Over the next weeks, there are free outdoor concerts at Independence Park, Orange Crate Derby races, a firefighters’ muster, a Fourth of July Ball, and many other activities and events. The Celebration concludes on July 4 with “The Military, Civic and Firemen’s Parade”, which is viewed by over 200,000 people from Rhode Island and around the world.
